Meeting new people

A couple of months ago my brother and I were talking about how hard it is to meet people. He moved to Oregon a couple of years ago and still  hasn't made any good friends.  I googled "meeting people" (silly right?) for him and came across Meetup.com. I forwarded him the link, and figured why the heck not sign myself up. I have gone to 7 meetings so far and have really enjoyed them. I figured I would pass this on because it SUCKS trying to meet new people in your everyday life. People always look at me like I am nuts when I am friendly toward them in public (maybe I am ;)).
This picture is from a meetup I planned :) at the park. It was adorable to see Dexter smiling and interacting with babies his age.

So I know this sounds like an ad, but I swear it's not. I'm just passing this website along because I love it!

BTW Dex is 6 months tomorrow! CRAZY! time is going too fast!

5 Months

This month Dexter:

Started solid foods! We started him on rice cereal to see if he was able to eat, then switched him to homemade purees. So far he has has carrots, sweet potatoes, applesauce, and avocados.

Started using a sippy cup. I figured after the 100th time of him grabbing at my decaf :(  latte to go cup, that it was a good idea to try.

He is rolling both directions, but hasn't figured out he can use the rolling to get around (secretly I am thankful for that because we haven't baby proofed).

He loves storytime, which is every night before we get him ready for bed.

This month I finally got some time to make him a mobile. I used some metallic paper to catch the light, and to match the artwork I did for his room. The whole thing cost me about $12.

I also made him an Easter outfit complete with bow tie and ribbon suspenders :)

4 months

Dexter learned to roll over a few short days after his 4 month bday.
He started sleeping through the night in his crib, usually 9 to 11 hours.
He loves sitting in his bumbo especially while I cook... I talk him through what I am cooking sort of like I have my own cooking show with an audience of one.
He talks all the time and has started giggling at everything.
I also finally got a basic schedule going, which includes 2 naps.
He is crazy interested in what my husband and I eat and gets a little jealous that we don't feed it to him.
I made him a sleep sack based on this one, and he falls asleep minutes after we put him in it (magic!).
He also loves his new jumper.

Rethinking my blog

I started this blog a couple of years ago with no real goals for it, or any direction to take it in. I hardly post because I have no idea what to do with it. There are only 100 posts (as of right now) which is rediculous considering the amount of time I have had this blog. It is time to give it a purpose.
My plan is to post at least twice a month (whoa turbo) about current projects and of course updates on my little one.

Welcome to Artsy Fartsy Whatnot. A blog about the crafts I do and the life I live.

catching up... month 3

He discovered his feet
Loves laughing at the baby in the mirror
Loves having his picture taken

This little guy is getting so big! He was 26 inches at his last checkup and the doc said that is the size of most 6 month olds.

His is such a happy boy, always smiling. He is starting to notice EVERYTHING. We walk into a room and he looks around trying to take it all in. He still sleeps through the night and gets an average of 10 hours every night (so nice). He talks all the time, is starting to flirt, and has giggle fits.

This little one is so much fun :) I cant wait to see what the future holds.

2 Months

Dexter is the happiest baby. Most days he is all smiles and a few giggles too. He is really easy to read (knock on wood), and doesn't really cry much (again knock on wood). I feel so lucky to have this little guy! He sleeps about 5-7 hours at night, but that usually begins after 1a.m.
His big gummy smiles kill me, but I have yet to capture a good one on film.  He weighs about 12 pounds now and is starting to get some adorable baby rolls :) Dex is also starting to coo/talk more often now... so cute!
He didn't even care that I put him in this monster costume... I couldn't help myself it was only $1.75

Other little Dex did-bits:
As far as personality goes he is just the most easy going little dude ever.
He doesn't mind traveling and usually falls asleep in his car seat.
Dex doesn't care if he nurses or has a bottle as long as we feed him.
Loves it when Daddy comes home from work and could stare at him all the time.
Loved staring at the color changing Christmas lights I put up on the mantle.
Doesn't really like the Moby wrap, but loves the Ergo.
Loves Bath time!

I have been sneaking in moments to sew this flannel blanket for the kiddo. Time has been flying, but I feel like I am doing a pretty good job enjoying every moment I get to spend with my little man.

1 Month

I love this little guy!

Dexter is 1 month old. Its kind of crazy to think about how fast the days have been going. I guess that is normal when you hardly get sleep anymore... My new personal priorities are showering, eating, and sleeping whenever I get a moment to myself. I will eventually sew again right?
