I know. I am a crappy blogger. Unfortunately I am also a crappy planner... This wedding stuff has got me pretty stressed out. On the bright side of things I finally listed one apron, but only because I felt guilty about buying fabric to make more aprons! Anyway... please take a look, and also forgive me for not posting in a long time!

The pictures aren't as nice as I would like them to be, but I decided just to take them and list it (meaning quit procrastinating).

So about this wedding. Silly me. He proposes in February... and I want to get married in July. This year.

I have been getting 2 phone calls a day from friends and family all wanting to know the scoop since he proposed *ugh*. At least I already found my dress, we picked the location, and did the flower thing. Now all we have to do is pick a cake and about 3million other things.

My Christmas tree all lit up and purdy. I made the tree skirt inspired by one I found for $200... mine cost me under $20.

These are a few of the things I have been up to besides being a total cheese ball at work ;)

First... I adjusted shipping in my Etsy Shop for black Friday and Cyber Monday

I made some new pillows for the sofa using this Amy Butler pattern... the petals were a pain in the butt. I'm pretty happy with them even though they almost resemble donuts.

This is a sweater that I picked up at the thrift store for $2.50 totally 80's chic ;)

I'm turning it into a much more wearable cardigan, and currently it just needs some buttons (this is where my job comes in handy).

Last but not least I decided to knit scarves for my female family members to give as early Christmas presents... so I have been knitting like a crazy person to finish them in time for Thanksgiving.

This year I wanted to do a semi easy costume...

So this is my inspiration I made a sweatshirt, thats right I made one. I spent maybe 5 bucks on the whole thing and it fits me perfectly because I used a sweatshirt I own as the pattern.

I got myself some of this paint. I totally love this paint!1st step draw a circle

In other news... I got a hair cut! Finally decided to get bangs (fringe) again. After years of hating them as a child, I decided to do the ever popular Zooey .

This was my desk before. I had been looking for a desk to call my own at every garage sale and thrift store in town and only found ugly or over priced desks. My dad found out I was on the hunt and mentioned that he had one just sitting in a storage shed. Awesome! My parents live about 3 hours from me, I drive a Mini Cooper, and don't have an appropriate work area to fix up the desk so I worked on it whenever I visited.

Normally this desk would not be my style, but free was definitely in my price range! It was not completely hopeless looking though, and it is made out of maple and the drawers are super big... so I figured maybe I could make it more my style. The desk needed a ton of sanding, some new hardware, and a ton of love. At first I was thinking that I wanted to paint it a fun color... yellow, green... maybe some funky pattern, but I couldn't commit. So one whole year later I present to you my desk!

A couple of coats of clear polyurethane and some spray painted hardware (and a ton of travel time) and I have my very own workspace. The painting and owls I got at an antique store near my parents and the painting was only 6 dollars! The mermaid print is from here I love love love it.

The hardware I got from a little store near my parents for $ .59 each which is crazy cheap, but I didn't want to have plain brass hardware on my colorless desk.

So I spray painted them!

I also replaced the wooden braces that were on the front of the desk with some nifty spray painted cast iron ones.

So what do you think? Better?!

I love it and I have been using it everyday! It is perfect for sewing, crafting, blogging, and everything in between :)

So I went to Las Vegas last week with the boyfriend and his parents... for his work. I got a cold while I was there :( leave it to me to get sick on vacation.

We saw the Blue Man Group (hands down highlight of the trip)... they were awesome! Love them.

I didn't have any super awesome ideas on how I wanted to spend my birthday so the boyfriend and I will be cruising out to my parents house to go to a big family birthday party. Hopefully it is tons of fun... and if not there is always good food :)

I also couldn't come up with anything that I wanted, but if money were no object I want one of these please.

Hi! Thanks for checking in on me :) The boyfriend and I decided to fix up our place!! We put hardwood floors in the main living area and tile in the kitchen, laundry, and bathroom areas. I also finally managed to convince him to paint the walls!

I don't have any before pictures, so just imagine a typical 1980's condo complete with brown and white 2x2 tile counter tops with dark brown grout, fluorescent kitchen lighting, and really tired looking carpet.

This is a picture of our living room... Beautiful floor!

Granite counters, glass mosaic back splash, new blinds, undercabinet lighting, and two new pendant lights over the breakfast counter. Our place is still a work in progress... I have been painting doors and such, but I love how it is coming together!

In other news:
I randomly quite my job at the pet store and am looking for a new job. The pet store wasn't scheduling me, but they would call once or twice a week to see if I could come in at the drop of a hat... but the truth is cleaning animal poo (cages) for minimum wage is not super awesome.

My mom is in remission and has been for awhile!

Update on my job status... I have a job! I took a 2 week job at local pet store to help them remodel their entire store. After the 2 weeks I was the only one (out of about 15) they asked to stay on!! It has only been super part time, which usually means weekends and filling in when someone doesn't show up... but its a job!

Hey there! I am still looking for a permanent job, but I have a few good leads. It is so hard to get a job right now! How were the holidays? Mine were good. I went to my parents house for Christmas... with a cold, which meant that I had to wear a surgical mask so my mom wouldn't get sick :( My mom should have at least one more treatment, but she doesn't have any final answers as to what will happen next.
For New Years the boyfriend and I stayed home and watched a few fun movies and did a puzzle. Fun Fun! I hope you all have a great week!

Interview fun

I had an interview yesterday. I made sure my hair was as perfect as it could be, considering I haven't cut it in about 6 months (maybe more). My make-up looked good, and I had picked out a professional looking outfit ...not easy considering most of my wardrobe is denim. I felt confident as I walked in 10 minutes early to check in as they requested... then I sat. I sat for an hour and 20 minutes past my interview appointment.

They lost my application. How do you loose an application that was submitted online? Thankfully I brought a copy of my resume along. It was kind of nice actually seeing someone read my resume, especially since I have heard that resumes are usually just glanced at. After asking me a grand total of 2 questions, the interviewer let me know that the only jobs open were for seasonal which is fine... I will take just about anything. So I guess if they like my resume, they will be calling me for yet another interview...Wish me luck.

As a side note... I noticed a majority of people in line for their interview were dressed nice, but there were a couple of people wearing tennis shoes, t-shirts, and jeans. What do you think is appropriate interview apparel? I have always been told that you dress for the job you want, so I checked out what the employees where wearing a few days before my interview and dressed accordingly.

This is a tiny sneak peek of things to come! That is all I am saying about that for now...

I stayed and helped my grandma for 2 and a 1/2 days. I drove her to and from the hospital twice a day to see my grandpa. It turns out a few weeks ago my grandpa had some dental work done, and it sounds like it didn't go too well. His tooth has been aching for weeks now and he doesn't want to eat because it hurts so bad. He is already taking a handful of pills every day, but because of the dental work he had a few others he was taking.

He was extremely dehydrated so that in combination with his meds and pain pills caused his kidneys to fail. When he arrived at the hospital they took him off of all of the meds and managed to get his kidneys functioning normally again. Yay! Aside from my grandpa being in the hospital it was really nice spending time with my grandparents.

A few fun things about my grandparents:

They got married when she was 15 and he was 18

They have 4 kids together and 3 were born on holidays

I was born on my grandma's birthday (she says I was the best present ever)

Well... I am officially jobless. I have applied to about 15 places so far, but my search will just have to wait a few days. My grandpa is in the hospital so I will be gone for a few days helping my grandma get around. I don't know a whole lot about what happened, but my grandma says my grandpa has been really out of it for the past couple of days. She went to wake him up the other morning and said that he "looked like death warmed over". He apparently had kidney failure, and I have no idea what else....

I won't be on the net until I get back home.

Man oh man. I really don't like filling out job applications. This is my last week and I still don't have a new job lined up! (Gah!!)

I have been looking for a part-time job in a smaller retail store, and still haven't had any luck. I know the market is down...but hey I'm trying!

In other news... I did some sewing this weekend and went to visit my parents this weekend for my dad's birthday. My mom is doing well and should be starting her chemo again any day now.

Alright I am back. I am a terrible blogger.

Thank you for the comments on the last post! Things are better for now. I went and visited my parents, then I went to Las Vegas (for work not for fun)... then things fell apart. If you had asked me how I was 2 days ago I would have burst into tears. A few days later and some very serious conversations behind me, and things are better hopefully for good.

Without going into too much detail...

I am dating with the purpose of finding someone to spend the rest of my life with, and in one weird moment things completely changed. We were no longer on the same page... I faced losing just about everything and having to start all over again. I felt sick for 2 days. After a couple more days apart and some much needed perspective from friends, we are back on the same page.

All I can really say is that stress does funny things to people, and I don't mean haha funny either.

So... How's the weather? How are you guys doing? Did you manage to have a little fun this weekend? I sure hope so! I would love to hear about it!

If any of these things will offend or upset you, please do not read on.

I have not been feeling like myself lately. I don't want to go to work, I don't want to sew, or draw, or do anything at all really. I'm not quite sure what my problem is. Part of the reason I have not been posting much is because of my attitude... I don't really have much to say lately. To be entirely honest I'm not sure if I am 100% happy with my relationship right now, and I am definitely not happy with my job.

I have never been one of those people who know what they want to do with their life. I think what I may need to do (along with a crap load of soul searching) is get a part time job somewhere. Not anything serious, maybe an art store where I can meet people... I don't know.

I think I will just end this post with the tip of the iceberg. I am healthy, I have a family who loves me, a roof over my head, and a car that I just can't get enough of. So what is my problem? I don't know, but I hope I figure it out soon because I HATE not feeling like myself.

I figured I would show you all what I have been up to. First up:

My desk!

A work in progress of course. I sanded most of it and I need to pick a color... consider these the official before pictures. It won't fit in my car so I had to leave it at my parents house, which means I won't be able to finish it for at least another couple of weeks :(

New phone! Finally!!

I got the Samsung Impression and a cute plaid cover to protect it (I drop my phone a lot).

The boyfriend and I have been busy putting in extra storage and fixing the stupid bathroom (walls!), we also put in recessed lights in the kitchen. We have taken about 6 trips to Ikea in the past couple of weeks because we are hoping to improve our storage and seating situation (pictures later).

Tomorrow I am going to go see my mom! I will be there Thursday- Sunday just to visit... and hopefully come home with a desk. I have been searching for a nice desk that I can fix up to use for sewing, blogging, art... I mentioned it to my dad and he just so happens to have has a perfect little desk for me to fix up ( I am hoping it will fit in the Mini Cooper) .

Hey There!

Sorry I have been hiding! Here are a few of the things I have been up to.

I won a dress! (The belt is mine) The dress is from Chickdowntown.com
It is this adorable BB Dakota dress, it zips down the back and is super sexy! I always take pictures in front of the fireplace because our place is small and jammed packed...so the fireplace is the most interesting place to take pictures!

This last weekend I went to my uncle's house for a family birthday party because we have alot of August birthdays and 2 on the 14th (my grandma and I)! After the party the boyfriend and I went and stayed at my parents house for the remainder of the weekend. My mom is doing well and she has a really positive attitude!

I also did some laundry and before I had a chance to fold it there was a creature in it! Cute little Cleo.

Lastly... I have been staying home from work because our bathroom is getting fixed! I have been drawing a bit, but no sewing thus far ;)
We are paying for the repairs because we want walls, but we have every intention of making someone else pay for it in the end. In case you don't remember... We woke up to the sound of water dripping from the ceiling a few weeks ago, because the lady renting the upstairs apartment left her toilet running. Our bathroom walls had to be removed because of all of the water and we have been living like that since then. No one really wants to accept blame the Home Owners Association says the home owners insurance should pay and vice versa. So while they continue to play the finger pointing game we are footing the bill. Fun.

I totally love staying home while the repairs are done, it has been fun getting in touch with my creative side again!

Plans for my birthday this Friday....

I can't wait! I am going to Disneyland with some friends and then we are going to bbq at my place after. I love that Disneyland has free admission on birthdays because it has gotten so expensive!

I have around 300 yo-yos so far! Most of them are gingham, some are plaid, but all of them are bright fun colors!

I felt like making a purse, so I dug out some vinyl and started cutting!

I really love the floral on the inside... so cute! I am not sure what to do for a handle yet, but when I do you will see!

Both of the projects I am working on will be presents for my mom when they are done!

Happy Monday everyone (now that its over)! I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good and it kicked off with some good news! My mom is home and she is doing great! The doctor says she can eat whatever she wants and go where ever she wants!

I hand sewed about 90 fabric yo-yos because I am making my mom a quilt out of them....90 down only a few 100 to go! The boyfriend and I went swimming in his parents oh so beautiful salt water solar heated pool. I really love that pool! We also watched a few movies He's Just Not That Into You and Taken. We watched Taken twice it was so good and I am thinking that I need to buy He's Just Not That Into You, but you should watch them both!

My mom has officially started loosing her hair, but she has been feeling much better! She should be able to come home from her long hospital stay in maybe 5-7 days. I will be taking some time off of work to help my dad get their house super clean in preparation for her homecoming and maybe some extra time just to hang out with my parents.

If you happen to be praying for my mom (or just sending warm fuzzy thoughts her way) I would love to thank you... THANK YOU! It's really nice knowing that there are other people thinking of her!

I heard from another family member that my grandma fell last night and has been really out of it since. *Update* my mom called and let me know that my grandma is in the hospital... so send some extra warm fuzzies her way too please!

I ended up with 2 bathing suits! One in black and this one! Found at Delias $14.99 plus shipping and I found a discount so I paid $20 a piece. It comes with a small strap that you can use if you want to but it stays up just fine without it. I was really surprised at how flattering this cute little suit is too! As far as the sizing goes, I bought a medium and I am happy so I think it is safe to say they run true to size!

I am going to start with the good news, well really it's bittersweet. I got to hang out with my friend Tessa. I love Tessa like a sister. We met in junior college, where we shared 3 interior design classes in a row in the same room. She is an awesome person, so bubbly and beautiful, and she always has a positive outlook on life. Recently she met and fell in love with a great guy (who I approve of) who happens to live in Texas :( so she is packing it up to move to Texas and start a life near him.

I will miss her ALOT, but I want more than anything for her to be happy. This picture was taken at her garage sale this weekend. In the pic we are sitting on a sofa outside... something I never thought I would do.

And now for the not so fun stuff.

The boyfriend and I woke up last week around 4am to the sound of rain. Sounds good right? Not so much. The rain was not rain and it was coming from the bathroom. It turns out that the lady renting the condo upstairs left her toilet running. We had at least a 1/2 inch of water on our bathroom floor and our carpet was wet. At a not so ungodly hour we contacted the association to let them know about the water damage and they arranged to have a guy check it out the next day.

The restoration company that the association subcontracts to sent 1 guy out the remove anything that was water damaged. I had the day off and decided to do some sewing while he worked. 8 hours later I had a cute handmade skirt and this for a bathroom

That's just a sample too. We had to have 3 huge fans and 2 large dehumidifiers running through the weekend so it was really hot in our place! I'm not sure when they are going to fix the bathroom, but I hope they do soon!

Busy busy!

The boyfriend and I had Friday off so we went to visit my grandparents. We brought lunch and just sat and talked to them, it was alot of fun! My grandparents (on my mom's side just for clarification) are two of the sweetest and most amazing people ever! My grandparents were married very young at 15 and 18, four kids, a handful of grand kids, and many years later they are still just as in love as the day they met.

On the 4th I did a little sewing for my mom and then boyfriend and I went over to his parents house for a BBQ. We had good food and great conversation, and headed home with full bellies. The rest of the night we just stayed in and watched movies!

Sunday we got up early and drove up to visit my mom. She has been in the hospital for almost 2 weeks now... We got to visit with her and my dad for about 40 minutes until her temperature started climbing. It was really hard to see her so sick, I just want her to feel better!

I moved out to the beach about 4 years ago, away from all of my friends, and have failed to make any new ones. It is really hard to meet people out here, and I get along with anyone! I met my man online (match.com) but I can't seem to make any friends. Around here people aren't super friendly, if you try to talk to them they look at you funny! How do you guys make friends? I have taken local classes... but I am at a loss! I think I just need a few girls nights to make me feel better, but sometimes the 2 hour drive (more in traffic, think traffic through LA, because I have to drive through it) to go back home just isn't practical.

In other news... My mom has to have 6 months of chemo, not 6 weeks. She is upset, but she knows that the doctors just want to make sure they get it all! She would also like to get a wig soon... Do any of you know how to get a nice wig for cheap? Since she will be in the hospital so long, she is upset about missing my birthday (August 14th I will be 25!) and all of the holidays from now until then. I told her not to worry about a thing. If she wants to celebrate anything we will bring it to her!

So... I was watching tv and a Glidden paint commercial came on. It turns out they are giving away a quart of paint! Quite the selection of colors too! I picked Tropical Lagoon. I have been wanting to paint the insides of our kitchen cupboards, so this should be perfect! Just go here and pick a color and tell them where to send it!

In other news:

I visited my parents Friday-Sunday. My mom went to get her bone marrow tested while I was there, and the doctor found out that it is not in her marrow! Yay!

The doc wants her to start chemo soon so my mom had me make her some caps. We picked up McCall's M4116 I do not recommend this pattern! The instructions are very limited, I could come up with a better one myself! If you by any chance know where we can buy some really cute caps let me know!

I am currently obsessed with vintage wall plaques. I bought this gigantic (19" long, 14" tall and 4" deep) on on Etsy for about $25. It was cute, but the colors were dull and a bit dirty looking. I re-painted the entire thing! I just used acrylic paint 2-3 coats and topped it off with some glossy clear spray paint. I love it!

By the way... I bought this book last week and I recommend that you do the same! Its not a novel, its just a bunch of funny little blurbs with really fun art.

My mom's dog Bailey

My mom called me today. She told me her doctor said she has a form of leukemia. I don't know anything else about it... she just found out, but I am hoping we learn more soon. She started crying on the phone with me, and I cried with her. What do you do when someone you love is given news like that? I am so worried for her.

My mom just emailed me this! She knows I love cannoli.... mmmmm cannoli! I have no idea where she got it from, but I will be trying them! A good Italian restaurant isn't good (in my opinion) if they don't have good cannoli , or worse if they have none!

PER SERVING (1 cannoli cone): 134 calories, 1.75g fat, 184mg sodium, 21g carbs, 0g fiber, 10.5g sugars, 6g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

You will FLIP OUT when you try our creamy, creative take on chocolate chip cannolis!!!

Ingredients: 6 sugar cones (like the kind by Keebler)

1 cup plus 2 tbsp. fat-free ricotta cheese

2/3 cup Cool Whip Free, thawed

2 1/2 tbsp. Splenda No Calorie Sweetener (granulated)

2 tbsp. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

1 tbsp. sugar-free fat-free vanilla instant pudding mix

1 tbsp. powdered sugar

Directions: Place all ingredients except the cones and chocolate chips in a medium bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat on high until mixture is fully combined and fluffy. Fold in half of the chocolate chips. Carefully transfer mixture to a large plastic bag, squeezing it down toward one bottom corner of the bag. Snip that corner off with scissors, so that you have a makeshift piping bag. Gently squeeze the ricotta mixture into the cones, evenly distributing it among them. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips evenly on top of the filling in each cone. Eat and enjoy!

Day trip

The boyfriend and I went to the hospital to visit my mom. She has been really sick for a few weeks now and the doctors didn't know what was wrong. She found a new doctor who figured out that she had a tumor in her small intestine. They are testing the tumor... fun. She had surgery on Thursday to remove it and she has been recovering quite nicely. It was good to see her smile.

My mom and I never got along when I was growing up, and I am not sure why. It has been a really rough road, and things have been going really well for about a year now. I am not sure what changed our relationship, but I am really happy it did.

I hope you all had a good weekend... I wish it wasn't over!

San Francisco!

Ok so let me warn you... I am not a photographer and because of that I had to pick and choose some pics to share, but I assure you I tried my best!

The boyfriend and I left early Friday morning and headed up to Vacaville where we met up with his brother and sister-in-law. We stayed at their house and got up bright and early Saturday morning to head to San Francisco! We all piled on a boat to Alcatraz, barely catching the boat on time! It was a beautiful HOT day! We hiked up the island and into the prison for an audio tour (I recommend you do that). It was kind of funny watching 100's of people shuffling back and forth in the narrow hallways with their headphones on.

After the tour the boyfriend and I jumped back on the boat back to San Francisco. We met up with his friend and his girlfriend at pier 39 for lunch, and then we wandered over to Gorden Biersch for some beer. FYI they have the worst service ever, the hostesses (all 3 of them) ignored us so we seated ourselves at a table near the bar. The waiter never came over, but he went to the surrounding tables. The four of us didn't waste any time in figuring out a way around the crappy service... the bartenders were happy to get us our beers!

After laughing and drinking we went to check in to the Argonaut Hotel. Our room got upgraded! The room was beautiful! We were on the top floor (4th) in a corner room facing the bay!

This is the best shot I have, but the room was huge!

After checking in the four of us wandered down the street to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner and ended up at The Franciscan Restaurant.
They have the most beautiful view of the bay and great service!

I love mermaids!

Their menu was a book!

On Sunday we woke up late and wandered down to a Starbucks in the building. We took our coffee to a park right across from the bay overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. After soaking in the amazing view, and the caffeine, we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and made the 7.5 hour drive home!

On the way home the boyfriend and I decided that we will definitely go back to San Francisco soon!

A walk in the park

The library here has a huge park attached to it, and it is so pretty. It is perfect for bike rides in the summer, a jog in the morning, or a walk whenever you feel like it.

The boyfriend and I have been going for walks after work every couple of days and I love it!

The ducks are all walking around in pairs, and there are adorable little bunnies hopping around everywhere.

I can't wait to go again!

I was browsing Ebay for some brown leather boots that would meet my requirements and price point, and found a pair that interested me for $79.95 and $10.95 shipping. It seemed like a good deal, but I wanted a better one. I added them to my watch list and went about my life. The day the auction was ending the seller added the make an offer button. I love love love the make an offer button! So in true Shelley fashion I offered her a lower amount I think it was $45. You have to know what you are willing to pay and then offer lower, so they will counter offer something in your price range... but it doesn't always work out. She counter offered $65 (getting warmer) so I countered with $55.
She accepted!!!

Cleo loves shoes too! As soon as I take my shoes off she runs over and cuddles them, it has become a daily thing.

They have some flowers embroidered on the heel, so cute!

Now I can cross brown leather boots off of my non-existent list of wants!

I am so pissed off! Freaking Wamu/Chase screwed up and said my car payment didn't go through, and said I had no $ (liars. I have $). On the way home from work someone tried to run me off the road, and continued to try as I honked at them! So thanks to the jerk in the Subaru Wagon who decided their lane change was more important than driving into the side of someones car!

The Boyfriend bought me some shoes! (Click on the picture) I love Gladiator style sandles, but they always look weird on me... so these are a great compromise for me! The boyfriend brought me flowers! Since gifts like these are usually few and far between I took a few pictures. They are so pretty! What a sweet guy!

In other news... I made 2 pairs of pajama pants! I love mermaids, I have since I was little. The yellow pair was heavily inspired by http://www.burdastyle.com/creations/show/20546 they were made with 2 kinds of Heather Ross fabric (which is super amazing). The blue pair is a Michael Miller print. They were both used with Simplicity 5932, which is my trusty pj pattern. It is nice to know that I have some nice pajamas to sleep in now :)

By the way... I will be in Chicago for a quick business trip until Thursday.

$20 Ebay purchase. I think I have enough of these vintage wall plaques ... for now (evil laugh). I spray painted them silver, satin nickle to be exact, because I did't like the dated gold color and it didn't go with anything.

Walmart craft section

I don't usually shop at Walmart but I needed some page protectors so I decided to pick some up at our local Walmart. There are remodeling our store, so it was really empty, but I wandered over to the craft area and discovered ric rac was on clearance! $.75! As it turns out Walmart decided they don't want to sell craft items anymore! The cashier told me that the powers that be decided that electronics made more money than crafts, so they are just going to get rid of crafts! LAME. Anyway I just thought I would share.

New Finished Projects!

First project, some cute plastic bees I bought on Etsy. They were white but I painted them gold and silver to make them a bit funkier. They will eventually be hanging up in the bathroom!

Next project is a large purse. I was browsing a local fabric store and came across some beautiful Alexander Henry fabric, I knew immediately I wanted to make a purse out of it!

I made the pattern up myself, and I am very happy with the outcome although it is a bit large (I can fit magazines in it).

This is a close up on some pin tucks which are on both sides of the purse.

The handle looks a bit messy, but it is super sturdy! I cut some rings off an old shirt and used them to spruce up the handle.

The inside! Fully lined with an adorable yellow and white polka dot fabric , and all of the seams are hidden with gingham bias tape. I also used a magnetic purse closure, put in a zippered pocket and 2 pockets!

All together I am very happy with how the purse turned out! I have enough fabric to make another, which is convenient since my mother requested one!

Some Finished Projects!

This was a shirt I picked up at ROSS about 2 years ago, when I needed some collared shirts. It was like $4, so even though I didn't love it I bought it. The collar was MASSIVE (as close to the 1970s collars with plastic as you can get, without plastic) and the buttons were cheesy red plastic hearts. I always figured Iwould just change the bottons and it woul be fine. Wrong. 2 years later and its never been worn. Enter Scissors.
I hacked the collar off about an inch away from the neckline, turned it in and sewed. Changed out the buttons, and added some decorative lines of stitching on the shoulders and waist. I had originally added this to the Goodwill pile, but decided to spruce it up and I am so glad that I did!

Bird house for my Grandma

My Grandma recieved some birdhouse that were painted by a friend of hers. Most were adorable, but one was just plain ugly. My Grandma let me take it home to re-paint it and this is the result. Terra Cotta Colored roof, grape vine, flowers, and cheesy windows!

Two (older) Projects

I made this Blanket for my brother using his old t-shirts and pajama pants which had cute advertisements on them. It was super easy just cut up the t's in to large squares and the pants into 5x5 inch squares, sewed them all together and backed it with some anti-pill fleece! He loves it! I made a couple of these a few years back using vintage hawaiian shirts from a thrift store... fun and cozy!

I bought these cuties as a set of 3 in their original green and orange on Etsy and spruced them up with some turquoise paint and highlighted them with gold and silver, then spray painted them with clear gloss to protect them and make them shiny. Love them!!

I should say... I took some history of furniture classes a few years back and because of that I know have quite the list of furniture I would love!

Eames chair, would love to have this in my home someday!

Love these fish tanks! I will only get one of these if I can afford to have someone else clean it :) The Le Corbusier Sofa and arm chairs are on the list too!

Ok so I have wanted a Lucky Brand leather patch work purse for a little over a year now, but I did not want to spend over $100 dollars for it. I searched around on ebay and even used ones were going for way more than I was willing to spend! This is just one example
I gave up on Lucky Brand and just started searching for patch work purses in general. I finally came across this one

It's a Kohls brand but its close enough!

I got it for $15! Wooo! Real leather too! I didn't like the size and shape very much though. I folded the bag to see if I could spiff it up and decided that I wanted to make it smaller but did not want to cut it up. This is what I ended up with.

I just folded the bottom into the purse and stitched it together with embroidery floss every inch. The bottom portion that I folded into the purse is now functioning as a divider in the purse. So much cuter!

I don't know that anyone will ever read this, or enjoy it, but I am going to blog anyway! I am not sure which direction it will take, but my intent is to post about things that I enjoy, and possibly complain about things that I do not. There will be pictures and there will lots of me talking, so brace yourselves!
